Maintenance
- The Original Design: A Covenant, Not a Contract If tomorrow your spouse lost everything they "bring to the table" (money, health, looks, stability), would you still feel bonded to them? Or does your love depend on the other person holding up their 50%?
- Love Like Christ, Respect Like the Church: The Design That Doesn't Enslave Do the roles in your marriage (who leads, who provides, who nurtures) feel like something culture or the church forced on you—or do you see them as a living expression of God's design for your freedom?
- Why Did God Join Us? Purpose Beyond "Being Happy" If you vanished as a couple from the face of the earth today, what mark would you leave on the Kingdom of God? Do you know the specific mission you were joined for, or are you simply managing a comfortable life?
- The Budget as a Spiritual Tool and the Generosity That Unites Do you know exactly how much comes in, how much goes out, and where every dollar in your home goes? Or is money a subject you avoid, a ghost that only shows up when it runs short?
- Words That Build or Destroy: The Art of Redeemed Communication Can you remember the last time your words were a balm to your spouse? And the last time they were acid? Which of those two memories sits heavier on your conscience today?
- Privacy Limits on Social Media: Preventing Micro-Cheating Can your spouse pick up your phone at any moment, unlock it with your passcode, and look through your conversations, photos, and apps without you panicking? Or are there digital corners you'd rather they never see?
- Block Parenting: How to Keep the Kids from Dividing the Parents Are your kids a bridge that unites you or a battlefield where you compete for loyalty? Do your kids know mom and dad's covenant is unbreakable, or have they learned to play the cracks between you?
- Leave Father and Mother: Build a Home with Walls Does your spouse feel like your mom, your dad, or your siblings have more influence over your decisions than they do? Do you run to your family with every marriage crisis before talking to your spouse?
- Why Sex Is Worship and Spiritual Warfare at the Same Time Do you see your sexual intimacy as a spiritual act of worship and a weapon of war against the enemy, or have you reduced it to a physical need, a bargaining chip, or a marriage chore?
- Song of Songs Tactical Manual: The Art of Seducing Your Spouse Every Day When was the last time you flirted with your own spouse without expecting sex right after? Do you still know how to seduce each other, or has all intimacy become a negotiation of schedules and exhaustion?
- Identifying the Real Enemy: Your Spouse Isn't the Problem Right now, are you seeing your spouse as the source of your misery, your oppressor, or the thing standing in your way? Have you forgotten who the war is actually against?
- How to Win an Unbelieving Spouse Without Nagging Have you noticed that the more you talk about Jesus, the further your spouse pulls away? Are your words building a wall instead of a bridge?
Friction
- When the Covenant Feels Like a Prison Right now, does marriage feel like a cell that has stripped you of your identity, your freedom, or your happiness? Do you think you got tricked into this?
- When the Head Doesn't Lead / When the Helper Competes or Cancels Are you carrying a role that isn't yours because your spouse checked out? Or is your spouse crushing you with their control and silencing your voice?
- When Career or Personal Dreams Collide Head-On Does your marriage feel like the obstacle to your personal or professional fulfillment? Do you believe you've sacrificed your best self to support your spouse's dreams?
- Biblical Rules for Fighting Clean (Without Sinning) Do your arguments usually end in restoration and understanding, or in a battlefield of emotional casualties and a frozen silence that lasts for days?
- The Third Roommate in Bed: When the Phone Cools Down Intimacy How many nights this week have you gone to bed staring at separate screens, without talking, without touching, without praying together? Has the phone been the last thing you see before sleep and the first thing you touch when you wake up?
- The Deep Pain: Infertility, Pregnancy Loss, and Waiting Seasons Are you facing the possibility that the child you dreamed of will never come? Did you just lose a pregnancy and feel like God didn't hear? Or are you in the endless waiting room of treatments, tests, and deferred hopes?
- Extreme Wisdom for Blended Families Does your home feel like a puzzle with pieces that don't quite fit? Do your kids from your first marriage reject your new spouse? Does your spouse feel their kids are treated like second-class citizens?
- When Desire Is Asymmetric (One Wants a Lot, the Other Nothing) Does it feel like one of you is chasing and the other is running? Has sexual frequency become an exhausting negotiation where one feels rejected and the other feels pressured?
- How to Schedule Sex Without Losing the Romance Do you believe "scheduled" sex is cold, forced, or unromantic? How many weeks have gone by without intimacy because "the moment never came up"?
- Emotional Betrayal: "Innocent" Friendships at Work or Online Do you have a friendship with someone of the opposite sex (a coworker, a friend on social media) you share things with that you don't share with your spouse? Does it feel like that person gets you better than your partner does?
- Depression, Anxiety, and Burnout: How to Hold Up a Spouse Whose Mind Is Sick Do you live with someone who has shut down, can't get out of bed, has panic attacks, or can't stop crying? Or are you the one drowning, feeling like your spouse doesn't understand anything?
- When Your Believing Spouse Cools, Drifts, or Loses Their Faith Does the person you married no longer want to pray with you, skip church, or has begun questioning truths you used to affirm together? Do you feel like you're living with a spiritual stranger?
- Retirement and the Empty Nest: Rediscovering Friendship Without Kids at Home The kids are gone. The career is over or about to be. Do you look across the table and feel like you're married to a stranger? Did you build your identity as parents and providers, but not as companions?
- How to Walk in Grace and Restoration When Divorce Is Unavoidable Have you gone through a divorce you didn't want, or one that was the only way out after exhausting every option? Are you carrying guilt, shame, or the stigma of a church that didn't know how to hold you up?
Crisis
- Hidden Debts, Financial Infidelity, or Looming Ruin Did you just find out about a debt your spouse hid from you? Or are you about to confess a financial disaster you've been covering up? Does it feel like the economic ground is caving in beneath you?
- 🛑 Emergency Stop: Halting an Escalation of Yelling, Insults, or Threats Right at this moment, are you yelling, saying things you know you can't take back tomorrow, or feeling hatred take over the room?
- You Found a Message, a Photo, a Secret That Shouldn't Exist Did you just see something on your spouse's phone that froze your blood? An ambiguous message, a saved photo, a deleted conversation, a secret account? Are you shaking, unsure what to do now?
- When In-Laws Are Destructive or Meddlesome Is your mother-in-law, father-in-law, or sibling-in-law actively sabotaging your marriage? Does your spouse refuse to defend the covenant in front of their own family? Do you feel like you're married to your partner and to a whole clan that rejects or controls you?
- Hidden Addictions (Pornography) and Toxic Fantasies Have you found out your spouse secretly uses pornography? Or are you the one hiding an addiction that's draining your real desire and filling your mind with images you can't erase?
- Past Trauma and Abuse: Making the Bed a Safe Place Are there wounds from sexual abuse, assault, or childhood trauma that are poisoning your ability to enjoy intimacy? Does your body tense up, dissociate, or shut down when your spouse comes close?
- Adultery Discovered: The First Month of Impact Did you just discover a full-blown infidelity, or did you just confess one? Does it feel like the world is splitting in two and you don't know if your marriage can be saved—or whether you even want it to be?
- A Terminal Diagnosis, Early Widowhood, or the Loss of a Child Did you just receive news that splits your marriage's story into a before and an after? An aggressive cancer, an accident that took everything, a child who didn't wake up? Does it feel like God has gone silent?
- 🛑 Mutual Destruction Spiral Right at this moment, are you seeing your spouse as your enemy, not your ally?
- Cutting Generational Patterns: Chronic Divorce, Inherited Rage, Addictions Is there a pattern in your family of origin that's repeating in your marriage? Divorce that jumps from generation to generation? Angry men? Controlling women? Addictions that chained your grandparents, your parents, and now you?
- The Final Sacrificial Love: Caring for a Spouse with Alzheimer's, Decline, or Terminal Illness Your spouse, the one who used to hold you, doesn't recognize you anymore. Or they depend on you to eat, bathe, and move. Are you exhausted, sad, and feeling guilty for wishing this would end? Does it feel like you're losing your beloved while they're still breathing?
- Facing Final Abandonment or the Danger of Domestic Abuse Has your spouse left you with no intention of coming back? Or are you facing physical violence, extreme psychological abuse, or threats that put your life or your children's lives in danger? Have you been told you have to stay "because God hates divorce"?
Frequently asked questions
What is the Couples First-Aid Kit?
It is symptom-based help, A to Z, for the hard moments of marriage. Each entry offers an honest look, a verse, an application, an immediate pact and a prayer.
How do the green, yellow and red levels work?
Green is maintenance (things are fine, keep caring), yellow is friction (tension to address) and red is crisis (a serious situation needing immediate action and often outside help).
Does the Kit replace professional couples counseling?
No. It is spiritual and practical first aid that complements, but does not replace, professional counseling or therapy. In cases of violence, addiction or severe crisis, seek professional help immediately.
What do we do in a crisis such as infidelity?
Use Crisis Mode: guided, step-by-step plans for couple emergencies. The Kit links to those plans when the level is red.
Is it Christian content?
Yes. Each answer combines biblical principles with practical steps and prayer, designed for married couples.
