The Danger Of Phubbing

Have you ever been telling your husband or wife something super important, and suddenly you notice they are staring at their phone? That awkward silence while you hear the background tapping is painful. This modern phenomenon has a terrible but accurate name: 'phubbing' (snubbing your partner by paying attention to your phone). And, let us be honest, almost all of us are guilty of this.

It seems harmless, a simple reflex to check that notification that just popped up. But what we are really communicating to our partner without uttering a single word is: 'Whatever is happening on this glowing six-inch screen is more important than what you are telling me right now.'

Experts tell us that our brains are hardwired for connection. In fact, being constantly ignored for your partner's phone activates the exact same emotional pain centers in the brain as experiencing physical rejection. It is not that your spouse is being 'too sensitive'; it is that we were created by God to be seen and heard.
