Proverbs 20:5
The purposes of a person's heart are deep waters, but one who has insight draws them out.
Reflection
Have you ever used a map app that hasn't been updated in years? You end up driving down one-way streets the wrong way or looking for restaurants that have long closed. The same thing happens in marriage when we assume that the person next to us is exactly the same one we married five, ten, or twenty years ago.
Sometimes we fall into the trap of thinking: 'I already know my partner by heart.' We believe we know what they like, what bothers them, and what they dream about. But the reality is that human beings are dynamic; we evolve, change tastes, develop new fears, and awaken to new passions driven by life.
The problem arises when our conversations are reduced to the mere logistics of the home. We become experts at asking things like: 'Did you pay the electric bill?', 'Who is picking up the kids today?', or 'What's for dinner?'. Without realizing it, we trade the deep exploration of intimacy for the management of a small business called family.
