COMMUNICATION · Day 129
Turning Off The Fixer Syndrome
Audio narration — available in the app
Proverbs 25:20
Like one who takes away a garment on a cold day, or like vinegar poured on a wound, is one who sings songs to a heavy heart.
Reflection
Picture this scene: you come home after a terrible day. Your boss yelled at you, the traffic was impossible, and the washing machine decided to break down right when you needed it most. You sit on the couch, sigh deeply, and start telling your spouse all about your nightmare, looking for a safe place to vent.
But instead of a hug, your spouse immediately pulls out their mental 'tactical whiteboard.' Before you even finish your sentence, they are already giving you three practical solutions, the number of a repairman, and a detailed analysis of why you shouldn't have let your boss yell at you.
The result? You feel more frustrated than when you started talking. This is a very common problem in marriage, especially for those who have an analytical, technical, or highly results-oriented mind. We call it the 'Fixer Syndrome' or being in 'Debugger Mode.'
