INTIMACY · Day 68

The Safe Space: Zero Ammunition

Audio narration — available in the app

Proverbs 18:13

To answer before listening— that is folly and shame.

Reflection

Imagine doing a 'trust fall' backwards, expecting your spouse to catch you, but instead they step aside to point out your bad posture. That is exactly what vulnerability met with judgment feels like in a marriage.

Relationship experts point out that contempt and criticism are the ultimate romance killers. It is the lethal difference between listening to deeply understand your spouse's heart, and listening just to correct their logic or give them a lecture on what they should improve.

One of the most destructive habits we can develop is weaponizing our spouse's vulnerabilities. This happens when they confess a deep fear, a mistake, or an insecurity, and you silently store it away as ammunition to fire at them in your next argument.
