COMMUNICATION · Day 136
The Prayer Triangle in Conflict
Audio narration — available in the app
James 4:6
But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: 'God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.'
Reflection
We have all been there. The argument has been going around in circles for an hour, you could cut the tension with a knife, and both of you are entrenched in your own reasoning. It feels like you are in opposite corners of a boxing ring.
Suddenly, the idea of holding hands and praying sounds ridiculous or even hypocritical. You want to throw a pillow at them, not hold their hand. And it is very easy to think that prayer is only for bedtime or blessing the food.
But here lies the secret of marriage: it is mathematically and spiritually impossible to maintain cruelty, sarcasm, or contempt towards your spouse when you are genuinely praying for them before God. God's presence burns away toxicity.
