INTIMACY · Day 74
The Microwave and the Oven
Audio narration — available in the app
1 Peter 3:7
Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.
Reflection
Imagine coming home starving. He wants to throw something in the microwave so it's ready in a minute; she prefers to turn on the oven on low heat so the roast turns out perfectly. In the kitchen, this is just a culinary preference, but in the sexuality of our marriage, it is the exact design with which God equipped us. He is the microwave, and she is the oven.
It is a classic scenario: we are in bed, the husband suddenly feels like a space rocket ready to take off because he brushed his wife's arm, and she is mentally reviewing the grocery list or remembering that someone left the dishes unwashed. And this is exactly where the misunderstandings, the frustration, and the famous 'You only think about that' begin.
Physiologically and emotionally, we are wired in very different ways. For the vast majority of men, the visual and physical desire is immediate. For them, sex is not the final goal after connecting emotionally; it is the main gateway to achieve that connection and feel like true, bonded partners.
