The Maker's Manual

Imagine buying a piece of fine furniture, one of those that comes in a thousand pieces with a manual thicker than a dictionary. With your ego running high and an Allen wrench in your hand, you decide you don't need instructions. Two hours later, you have a wobbly desk and five extra screws. Sound familiar? Well, the exact same thing happens with marriage. We think we can build a life together based on what we see in movies, a neighbor's advice, or what we consider logical, and then we wonder why the relationship creaks at the first storm.

In the passage from Matthew, Jesus takes us right back to the moment humanity cut the ribbon: the beginning. He reminds us that marriage isn't an institution invented by some ancient government or a social contract someone pulled out of a hat to organize people. It was the Creator Himself who drew the original blueprint. He is the ultimate Architect of this thing we call being married.

We live in an era where culture sells us marriage as just another consumer product. The modern mindset whispers in our ear that if this relationship no longer makes you happy, if you feel a bit bored, or if the pieces don't fit perfectly like day one, you should simply throw it away and buy a newer model. We have reduced this sacred covenant to a convenience agreement, where I stick around only as long as my needs are instantly met.
