The Habit of Daily Forgiveness

Have you ever bought a fire extinguisher hoping to use it every single day? Of course not! We buy it hoping it will gather dust in a corner. Sometimes, we treat forgiveness in marriage the exact same way: like emergency glass we should only break if a massive catastrophe occurs, like infidelity or a financial crisis.

But the reality of living under the same roof, sharing the same bathroom, and managing the same budget is very different. Daily life doesn't always produce huge fires that require alarms, but it certainly generates an impressive amount of 'micro-offenses' that can be equally destructive.

I am talking about those little things: the harsh tone of voice before the morning coffee, the wet towel left on the bed, forgetting to pay that bill, or the sarcastic comment when both of you are exhausted. If we rely on the 'emergency extinguisher' for these things, we will end up suffocating in the smoke of accumulated resentment.
