INTIMACY · Day 75
The End Of Selfishness In The Bedroom
Audio narration — available in the app
1 Corinthians 7:3-4
The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body but yields it to her husband. In the same way, the husband does not have authority over his own body but yields it to his wife.
Reflection
Today we are sitting down with a coffee to talk about a topic that sometimes makes us blush or feel uncomfortable, but which is fundamental to our marriage: physical intimacy. Many times we enter this realm carrying fears, pride, or selfish expectations that ruin what God designed.
It is very common, and sadly destructive, to use sex as a bargaining chip. If we behave well, there is a reward; if we argue or you didn't help me with the kids or the dishes, the bedroom doors are closed.
The apostle Paul gives us a radical principle: in marriage, we yield the rights over our own bodies to bless the other. This is not about a chauvinist or feminist imposition, but a mutual and voluntary surrender driven by the love of Jesus.
