Screen-Free Zones: Reclaiming Our Space

Psalm 46:10
"He says, 'Be still, and know that I am God.'"
Reflection
Imagine for a second that our home is like a small country. Like any nation, it has its borders, its public spaces, its work zones, and most importantly, its sanctuaries or nature reserves where the noise of the city is not allowed to enter. But, being completely honest, what happens when we leave the door wide open for the entire world to sit on our bed or at our dining table through a screen?
Today, without even realizing it, we have handed over the keys of our most sacred spaces to technology. Think about this: the dining room, which should be that special place, almost like an altar, where we break bread, laugh, and find out how our partner's day went, often becomes a waiting room where we both endlessly scroll through our phones while chewing in silence.
And if we talk about our bedroom, the situation is even more critical. The marriage bedroom is designed by God to be a nest of intimacy, a safe place for the deep rest of our bodies and the exclusive connection of our skin and soul. However, bringing the phone or tablet to bed is like inviting hundreds of strangers to sleep with us.
