Mission Seasons: Flexibility in the Calling
Audio narration — available in the app
Luke 10:41-42
Martha, Martha,' the Lord answered, 'you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one...'
Reflection
We often think that serving God means being on a stage, leading a group, or volunteering tirelessly at every church event. If we aren't doing something public or 'spectacular,' a subtle guilt creeps in, making us feel as though we are somehow letting the Lord down and missing our purpose.
But life is not a straight, predictable line; it moves in seasons. There are times when you, as a couple, have the energy and time to conquer the world, lead projects, and be out of the house every night. And then, there are seasons of overwhelming demand: a newborn baby, caring for aging parents, or the grueling initial years of building a family business.
The trap is believing that our calling disappears or goes on pause during those heavy seasons. The truth is that the calling to serve God remains constant, but the 'execution' and format of that calling must necessarily adapt to the reality of your current logistics. God doesn't expect you to be superheroes who ignore your own home to try and save the world.
