Audio narration — available in the app
Isaiah 1:18 & 2 Corinthians 5:17
Come now, let us settle the matter,' says the Lord. 'Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.' (Isaiah 1:18)
Reflection
Talking about the past in marriage can feel like opening an old closet full of things we would rather keep hidden. When it comes to the sexual area, the baggage we bring, whether from mistakes, past addictions like pornography, or the immense pain of abuse we suffered silently, weighs a ton. Sometimes, we arrive at the marriage bed believing our past has stained us forever, stealing the beauty of what God designed.
But here is the most beautiful truth of the gospel: when God looks at us, He does not see our labels of 'broken' or 'used'. Pornography, for example, tries to rewire our minds to view people as consumable objects, leaving us empty and detached from real intimacy. However, our brains and hearts can be renewed when we bring these struggles into the light and pursue true healing.
If you are carrying deep wounds from past relationships or abuse, I want to tell you something from the bottom of my heart: you are not damaged goods. Sometimes, simple physical touch can trigger invisible alarms and fears. In those moments, what is needed most is an environment full of infinite patience, where there is no rush or demand, but a love that knows how to stop and hold you until the storm passes.
