INTIMACY · Day 89
Enjoying the Process Together
Audio narration — available in the app
Ecclesiastes 3:12-13
I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God.
Reflection
Sometimes, married life feels like an endless to-do list and massive projects that can drain our energy. We dream of buying a home, starting a business, getting out of debt, or even building a self-sustaining retreat in the countryside. However, amidst the logistics and the stress, we run the huge risk of turning our home into a corporate boardroom. We forget that we were called not just to produce, but to deeply enjoy each other in the process.
It is undeniable that marriage requires a lot of work, effort, and consistency to move forward. But there is a subtle trap in thinking that the fun will only happen when we reach the finish line, when the garden is finally planted, or the savings account is full. If we delay our joy until we cross that finish line, we will miss the gift God gives us today. The Lord designed marriage so that teamwork would be a source of companionship, joy, and complicity.
This is where the wonderful concept of finding recreation in co-creation comes into play. When God breathed life into Adam and Eve, He invited them to cultivate and care for a wonderful design together. In the same way, every dream you and your spouse plan, from painting a room to mapping out a business venture, is a divine invitation to create something together. How you approach that work determines whether it will be a heavy burden or a perfect excuse to laugh.
