Audio narration — available in the app
Romans 12:2
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Reflection
Imagine our brain is like a glass of water. Every notification, alert, viral video, or breaking news is like dumping a spoonful of sugar into that water. At first, a little sweetness tastes fine, but after drinking this saturated mixture all day, when our spouse offers us a simple glass of fresh water—like a quiet chat on the couch—it seems bland, boring, and slow. We call this being 'drunk on dopamine.'
We live in a world strategically designed to hijack our attention. Technology has convinced us that we need to be stimulated every single second of the day. We wait in line at the grocery store staring at our phones, we take them to the bathroom, and we fall asleep with the glow of the screen on our faces. This extreme overstimulation has stolen something beautiful from us: the ability to be bored together and use that blank space to connect deeply.
Beyond exhausting us mentally, this digital saturation produces something experts call 'compassion fatigue.' We consume so many tragedies, angry opinions, and other people's dramas on social media that our emotional tank completely empties out. When we finally turn off the screen and look at our spouse, we have no empathy or patience left to listen to how their day went or understand their frustrations.
